Control serum electrolytes, serum osmolarity, water balance, acid-base status & liver function tests (alkaline phosphatase, ALT, AST) & possible symptoms of hyperammonaemia. Monitor enzymes alkaline phosphatase, GPT, GOT, bilirubin level & the acid-base status. The choice of a peripheral or central vein depends on the final osmolarity of the mixture. The general accepted limit for peripheral infusion is about 800 mosmol/L but varies considerably w/ age & general condition of the patient & the characteristics of the peripheral veins. Experience w/ the use of Dipeptiven for longer periods than 9 days is limited. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
