Dexamethasone phosphate 0.1%, neomycin sulfate 0.5%
Indications/Uses
Eye drops Corticosteroid responsive inflammatory conditions of the anterior segment of the eye & its adnexae, when they are complicated by infections caused by organisms sensitive to neomycin eg superficial keratitis, deep keratitis, acne rosacea keratitis, iridocyclitis or mild acute iritis. Ear drops Diseases of the external ear canal when complicated by infections caused by organisms sensitive to neomycin. Use in localized neurodermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema & diffuse otitis externa (if drum is intact).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Eye drops 1-2 drops 4-6 times daily. Ear drops 3-4 drops bd-tds.
Contraindications
Eye drops TB of the eye, fungal diseases of the eye, acute herpes simplex, vaccinia & most other viral diseases of the cornea & conjunctiva. Ear drops External otitis w/ perforation of ear drum.
Special Precautions
Eye drops Prolonged use for the eyes may result in glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve, defects in visual acuity & fields of vision, posterior subcapsular cataract formation. Ear drops Prolonged use, cause of otitis media must be eliminated.
