Codeine 30 mg, phenyltoloxamine 10 mg in a resin-bound matrix
Indications/Uses
Relief of cough.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 1 cap. To be taken in the morning & evening.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Patient suffering from enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, chronic constipation or asthma &/or lung insufficiency. Lactation. Shortly before or during labour. Infant <1 yr.
Special Precautions
HTN, convulsive disease or CVA. Impaired function of the resp, heart &/or blood vessels, liver, kidney/urinary & digestive system, disturbances of consciousness, intracranial pressure; addiction to opioids. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Prolonged treatment may cause dependency. Pregnancy. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea & vomiting, drowsiness, tiredness, disturbances in the digestive system, difficulty in urination, headache, euphoria, tinnitus, shortness of breath, decrease in BP, confusion, restlessness, irregular heartbeats, vision disturbances, itching & reddening of the skin, slow breathing (rare).
Drug Interactions
Aspirin & other drugs containing other salicylates, CNS drugs eg, tranquilizers, hypnotics, anti-Parkinson medicines, antiepileptics, analgesics, antipyretics, narcotic drugs, TCA & MAOIs, cough & cold medicines, antihistamines.
