Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take at least 30 min before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ CHF; any known predisposition to bleeding (eg, active peptic ulceration, recent hemorrhagic stroke, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, poorly-controlled HTN); QTc prolongation; unstable angina pectoris, MI or coronary intervention w/in the last 6 mth. History of ventricular tachycardia, ventricular fibrillation or multifocal ventricular ectopics; severe tachyarrhythmia. Concomitant use of ≥2 additional antiplatelet or anticoagulant agents (eg, acetylsalicylic acid, clopidogrel, heparin, warfarin, acenocoumarol, dabigatran, rivaroxaban or apixaban). Severe renal impairment (CrCl ≤25 mL/min). Moderate or severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy.
Patients at risk for serious cardiac adverse events due to increased heart rate (eg, stable coronary disease). Increased bleeding risk in patients undergoing surgery (including minor invasive measurements like tooth extraction). Exercise caution in patients w/ atrial or ventricular ectopy & atrial fibrillation or flutter. Monitor for any episode of bleeding or easy bruising whilst on therapy; signs suggesting early development of blood dyscrasia eg, pyrexia & sore throat. Pregnancy & lactation.
