Imiglucerase
Indications/Uses
Long-term enzyme replacement therapy for patients w/ a confirmed diagnosis of type 1 or 3 Gaucher disease that results in anemia, thrombocytopenia, bone disease, hepatomegaly or splenomegaly.
Dosage/Direction for Use
By IV infusion over 1-2 hr. Initial Dose: 60 u/kg once every 2 wk. Individualised dosage adjustments.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Monitor periodically for IgG antibody formation during the 1st yr. Anaphylactoid reactions (immediate discontinuation). Controlled Na diet. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Dyspnoea, coughing, hypersensitivity reactions, urticaria/angioedema, pruritus, rash.
