Clotrimazole
Indications/Uses
Topical fungal treatment of tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis, tinea versicolor & cutaneous candidiasis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Wash & dry affected area. Apply sparingly to the affected parts & surrounding skin areas & rub in twice daily, morning & evening. Regular application is essential for successful treatment. Treatment should be continued for 2 wk after all clinical signs have disappeared. Attention to hygiene is important in the management of fungal diseases, particularly of the folds & feet. If no improvement is seen after 4 wk, diagnosis should be reviewed.
Special Precautions
Avoid contact w/ eyes & mucous membranes. Pregnancy & childn.
Adverse Reactions
In a small fraction of recipients, clotrimazole when applied topically may cause stinging, erythema, oedema, vesication, desquamation, pruritus & urticaria.
