Pre-op medication Adult IV 300-600 mcg immediately before anaesth induction.
IM or SC 300-600 mcg 1 hr before anaesth induction.
Childn SC Administer 30 min before anaesth induction.
Childn 41 kg 600 mcg,
32 kg 500 mcg,
20-27 kg 400 mcg,
12-16 kg 300 mcg,
7-9 kg 200 mcg,
<3 kg 100 mcg,
premature infant 65 mcg. If IM route, administer 30-60 min before anaesth induction.
Childn >1 yr Alternative dosage: 10-20 mcg/kg 30-60 min before anaesth induction.
Antidote to cholinesterase inhibitors Adult 2 mg preferably IV.
Childn 50 mcg/kg IV or IM, repeat dose every 5-10 min until signs of atropinisation appear.
Antidote to organophosphate pesticides & in mushroom poisoning Adult 2 mg IV or IM.
Childn 50 mcg/kg IV or IM, repeat dose every 10-30 min until muscarinic signs & symptoms subside.
Reversal of effects of non-depolarising muscle relaxants Adult 0.6-1.2 mg IV in conjunction w/ neostigmine methylsulfate.
CPR Adult 3 mg IV once.
Childn 20 mcg/kg IV once.
Bradycardia, particularly if complicated by hypotension Initially 300 mcg IV, increase to 1 mg if necessary.
