Per inhalation Umeclidinium 62.5 mcg, vilanterol 25 mcg
Indications/Uses
Maintenance bronchodilator treatment to relieve symptoms in adult patients w/ COPD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 inhalation once daily. Administer at the same time of the day each day.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ asthma; severe CV disease; urinary retention or narrow-angle glaucoma; convulsive disorders or thyrotoxicosis, & in patients who are unusually responsive to β2-adrenergic agonists. Discontinue if paradoxical bronchospasm occurs. Not for treatment of acute episodes of bronchospasm. In the event of COPD deterioration during treatment, re-evaluate patient & treatment regimen. In concomitant w/ other drugs that have the potential to cause hypokalaemia. Monitor plasma glucose in diabetic patients. Rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Common: UTI, sinusitis, nasopharyngitis, pharyngitis, upper resp tract infection; headache; cough, oropharyngeal pain; constipation, dry mouth. Uncommon: Rash; tremor, dysgeusia; atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, rhythm idioventricular, tachycardia, supraventricular extrasystoles, palpitations; dysphonia. Rare: Anaphylaxis, angioedema, & urticaria; vision blurred, glaucoma, IOP increased; paradoxical bronchospasm; urinary retention, dysuria, bladder outlet obstruction.
Drug Interactions
Weakened or antagonised effect of vilanterol w/ β2-adrenergic blockers. Inhibited metabolism & increased systemic exposure of vilanterol w/ strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (eg, ketoconazole, clarithromycin, itraconazole, ritonavir, telithromycin). Potentiated adverse reactions w/ other long-acting muscarinic antagonists & long-acting β2-adrenergic agonists. Potentiated possible hypokalaemic effect w/ methylxanthine derivatives, steroids or non-K-sparing diuretics.
