Indications/Uses
Symptoms of seasonal or allergic perennial allergic rhinitis in adult & childn ≥12 yr. Symptoms of seasonal allergic or perennial allergic rhinitis in childn 6-11 yr. Nasal polyps in adult ≥18 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Seasonal/perennial allergic rhinitis Adult & childn ≥12 yr 2 actuations in each nostril once daily. Max: 4 actuations daily. Childn 6-11 yr 1 actuation in each nostril once daily. Nasal Polyposis 2 actuations in each nostril once daily. After 5-6 wk, may be increased to 2 sprays in each nostril bid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Untreated localized infection involving the nasal mucosa. Recent nasal surgery or trauma.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ active or quiescent TB of resp tract, untreated fungal, bacterial, systemic viral infections or ocular herpes simplex. Periodic exam for possible changes in nasal mucosa during long-term use. Discontinue use if w/ persistent nasopharyngeal irritation & localized infection occurs. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, viral infection, pharyngitis, epistaxis & cough, ulceration, candida albicans infection, impaired wound healing, cataracts & glaucoma. Hypothalamic pituitary adrenal (HPA) axis effects, including growth reduction, upper resp tract infection, dysmenorrhea, musculoskeletal pain, sinusitis, arthralgia, asthma, bronchitis, chest pain, conjunctivitis, diarrhea, dyspepsia, earache, flu-like symptoms, myalgia, nausea & rhinitis.
