Indications and Dosage
Oral
Cardiovascular and psychological symptoms associated with menopause
Adult: 100 mg daily for 20 days; repeated at intervals of 7-10 days.
Contraindications
Porphyria.
Special Precautions
Parkinson's disease.
Adverse Reactions
Depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, tremors, tardive dyskinesia. May worsen parkinsonism.
Action
Description: Veralipride is a substituted benzamide antipsychotic with antidopaminergic action. It was used to reduce frequency and severity of hot flushes associated with menopause, but was withdrawn in several European countries in 2007 as the risks of veralipride outweigh its benefits.
