Why do I need this medicine?
Tolnaftate is used to treat fungal skin infections such as Athlete’s Foot, jock itch (infection affecting the skin at groin) or ring worm (ring-shaped rash around the body, arms or legs).
How do I use this medicine?

Apply Tolnaftate exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Tolnaftate is available as a cream, gel, topical solution, powder or spray.

If you are using cream/gel, follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Clean and dry affected area before application.
  3. Rub the cream gently on the skin until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
  4. Wash your hands after using.
  5. Replace the cap of the tube.
If you are using a topical solution, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Clean and dry the affected area before application.
  3. Apply a thin layer of the solution over the affected areas.
  4. Avoid contact with soapy water or detergent immediately after applying the solution.
If you are using powder or spray, follow these steps:
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Clean and dry affected area before application.
  3. For powder, sprinkle liberally to sufficiently cover the affected area. For spray, shake well before use, then spray directly onto the skin, sufficient to cover the affected area.
  4. Wash your hands after using.
Avoid any contact of this medicine with your eyes, mouth or lips, or inhaling the powder. If an accidental contact occurs, rinse it immediately with water. Alert your doctor if you have any problems with your eyes or if you develop breathing difficulties.

The dose of this medicine will be decided by your doctor. Your doctor will advise you on the treatment timeframe depending on your condition and response to the medications.

Apply Tolnaftate at regular intervals. Do not skip any doses. You must complete the entire course of this medicine, even after your symptoms disappear. If you don’t, the infection will not be properly controlled.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose to make up for a missed dose.

If you often forget to apply your medicine, let your doctor or pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Do not use Tolnaftate if you ever had an allergic reaction (e.g. rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to it or any of its ingredient.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Tolnaftate is not intended for use for nail or scalp infections.
What side effects could I experience?
Tolnaftate may cause any of the following side effects: skin irritation e.g. itching at the application site, stinging sensation or rashes.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Let your doctor know if you are using any creams, ointments or other medicines on the affected area.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking or using any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in cool and dry place below 25°C, away from the reach of children.

Keep the spray powder away from direct sunlight, heat, open flame, or while smoking. Do not puncture the container or burn even when empty.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
