Indications and Dosage
Subcutaneous
Chronic hepatitis B, Chronic hepatitis C
Adult: 1.6 mg twice wkly, up to 12 mth; for patients <40 kg: 40 mcg/kg. To be used alone or with interferon for chronic hepatitis B; and with interferon for chronic hepatitis C.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute the powder with 1 ml of the provided diluent (sterile water for inj) before admin.
Contraindications
Patients who are deliberately immunosuppressed e.g. organ transplant patients.
Special Precautions
Caution when used with other immunomodulating drugs.
Adverse Reactions
Local discomfort at the inj site, erythema, transient muscle atrophy, rash, polyarthralgia with hand oedema.
Action
Description: Thymalfasin is a thymus hormone. It exerts its immunomodulating effects mainly by enhancing the T cell activity. It may be used alone or with interferon as an immunomodulator for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B and C.
Pharmacokinetics:
Excretion: Half-life: About 2 hr.
Storage
Store between 2-8°C. Reconstituted inj should be used immediately.
