Simeticone is used to relieve pain or discomfort associated with excessive gas accumulation in the stomach such as wind or wind pains, or bloating.
Take Simeticone exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take this medicine with or without food. Although, it may be best to take this medicine with meals and preferably at bedtime. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Simeticone is available as a chewable tablet, liquid-filled capsule, oral suspension or emulsion.
If you are taking the chewable tablets, it should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing.
If you are taking the liquid-filled capsules, swallow the capsules with a glassful of water. Do not chew the capsule.
If your child is taking the oral suspension or emulsion, shake the bottle well before giving it to your child to ensure that the liquid is evenly mixed. Use the measuring device provided (e.g. oral syringe, dropper) to measure the dose.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Inform your doctor if your stomach and abdominal discomfort persists or if symptoms worsen.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to an infant or a child.
Simeticone may cause any of the following side effects: nausea, constipation, vomiting, mild diarrhoea, and heartburn (burning pain in your chest caused by acid from the stomach).
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Inform your doctor if you are taking levothyroxine (medicine for thyroid disease).
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Avoid carbonated ("fizzy") beverages and gas forming foods, such as sugar, milk, other dairy products and fried or fatty foods.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect from moisture, light and heat.
Do not freeze the oral suspension or emulsion.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
