Contents
Rabeprazole Na 20 mg, itopride HCl 150 mg
Indications/Uses
GERD, reflux esophagitis, non-ulcer dyspepsia, gastroparesis, idiopathic hiccup, or any other acid-peptic disease accompanied by nausea &/or vomiting eg acute gastritis, NSAID-induced gastritis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Moderate to severe/unresponsive GERD/ reflux esophagitis 1 cap once daily 15-30 min before breakfast for 4-8 wk. Prevention of aspiration pneumonitis 1 cap in the evening before surgery & to be repeated on the morning of surgery. Adult 1 cap once daily 15-30 min before breakfast. Maintenance: 1 cap once daily 15-30 min before breakfast or at bedtime.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 15-30 min before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to substituted benzimidazoles.
Special Precautions
Exclude gastric malignancy prior to treatment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, allergic reactions. Itopride: Headache, galactorrhea, gynecomastia. Rabeprazole: Asthenia, fever, photosensitivity reactions, chills, malaise, musculoskeletal pain & aches, CV hematopoietic resp, genital system & thyroid abnormalities, edema, wt change, sleep disturbances, decreased libido, resp, sight & hearing difficulties, dysuria, skin lesions. Abnormalities in lab parameters eg, blood count, urinalysis, lipid profile, electrolytes, glucose & liver function test.
Drug Interactions
Monitor for increase in INR & prothrombin time when given w/ warfarin. Cyclosporine, ketoconazole. Anticholinergic agents reduces the action of itopride.
