Contraindications
Thromboembolic diseases, undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding. Patients with oestrogen-dependent tumours.
Special Precautions
Prolonged exposure to unopposed oestrogen may increase the risk of endometrial cancer. Porphyria.
Adverse Reactions
May cause contact sensitisation upon prolonged usage.
Lab Interference
May interfere with thyroid function and glucose tolerance tests.
Action
Description: Promestriene is an estradiol derivative that has been used topically in menopausal atrophic vaginitis and in seborrhoea.
