Contraindications
CV disease; moderate to severe hypertension; hyperthyroidism; glaucoma; hyperexcitablity or agitated state; history of drug/alcohol abuse; advanced arteriosclerosis; pregnancy; lactation.

Special Precautions
Mild hypertension; impaired kidney function or unstable personality. Monitor child weight and height. Psychoses may be exacerbated. Dependence. Epilepsy. Gradual withdrawal is recommended after prolonged treatment.

Adverse Reactions
Insomnia, night terrors, nervousness, restlessness, irritability, euphoria; fatigue, depression; dry mouth, anorexia, abdominal cramps, headache, dizziness, tremor, sweating, tachycardia, palpitations, hypo- or hypertension, impotence and altered libido. Psychosis, muscle damage and renal complications.

Overdosage
May cause hallucination, psychosis and death.

Drug Interactions
Increased risk of arrhythmias when used with volatile liquid anaesthetics or TCAs.
Potentially Fatal: Concurrent use with MAOIs or within 14 days of discontinuing MAOI treatment may precipitate hypertensive crisis. |

Action
Description: Prolintane is a mild central stimulant. It acts indirectly as a sympathomimetic.
