Contraindications
Prostatic enlargement, paralytic ileus, pyloric stenosis, closed-angle glaucoma, myasthenia gravis.

Special Precautions
Childn and elderly; febrile conditions, tachycardia, acute MI, hypertension, ulcerative colitis, diarrhoea. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.

Adverse Reactions
Dryness of mouth, difficulty in swallowing and talking, thirst, reduced bronchial secretions, mydriasis with cycloplegia, photophobia, flushing, dryness of skin, transient bradycardia followed by tachycardia with palpitations and arrhythmias, difficulty in micturition, reduced tone and motility of GIT, vomiting.

Drug Interactions
Enhanced effect when used with other drugs that have antimuscarinic properties. May affect the absorption of other drugs. Antagonises GI effects of cisapride, metoclopramide and domperidone.

Action
Description: Piperidolate is a tertiary amine antimuscarinic. It inhibits the action of acetylcholine at post-ganglionic cholinergic sites. It has been given in the symptomatic treatment of smooth muscle pain spasm associated with GI disorders.
