Indications and Dosage
Oral
Cough suppressant
Adult: As citrate or hydrochloride: Up to 180 mg daily in divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hepatic or renal insufficiency, CNS depression, heart insufficiency with pulmonary stasis, glaucoma. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Slight drowsiness, minor gastric disorders and skin rash.
Action
Description: Pentoxyverine, a centrally acting cough suppressant, is used for non-productive cough. It is often used as citrate, hydrochloride or tannate salt.
