Paraffin helps relieve constipation.
This medicine belongs to a group of medicines called lubricant laxatives. These laxatives work by coating the surface of the stools. This helps the stools hold in water so they move out of the body more easily.
Take Paraffin exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
This medicine is available in oral liquid form or as an emulsion.
If you are given an emulsion, shake it well before taking. Pour the measured dose into a glass and add a small amount of water or milk. Stir the mixture well and drink.
Paraffin is best taken before breakfast and at night on an empty stomach. Do not take it immediately before going to bed.
