Per sachet (21.8 g) NaCl 2.6 g, KCl 1.5 g, Na citrate 2.9 g, anhydrous glucose 13.5 g
Indications/Uses
Acute infectious diarrhea, enteral fluid therapy in intensive therapy unit (ITU) patients, rehydration of patients w/ burns, fluid & electrolyte balance in surgical patient & dehydration in elderly.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. Adult 200-400 mL for every loose motion. Childn 200 mL for every loose motion. Infant 1-1.5 times their usual feed vol.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Patients w/ GI obstruction, oliguric or anuric failure; concurrent parenteral rehydration therapy in severe dehydration or intractable vomiting. Reconstitute only w/ water. Freshly boiled & cooled water is preferred for infants. Do not boil soln after prepared. Do not add other ingredients eg, sugar. Store prepared soln in a refrigerator & use w/in 24 hr; discard unused soln. Halt for 10 min, then resume in smaller & more frequent amounts, if vomiting occurs. Potential hypernatraemia & hyperkalaemia in patients w/ renal impairment.
