Indications/Uses

Treatment of schizophrenia in adults.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Initially, 5-10 mg once daily. Adjust dose at intervals of not <1 wk w/in the range of 5-20 mg daily. Elderly (≥65 yr), hepatic or renal impairment Starting dose: 5 mg once daily.

Overdosage

View Olan overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Narrow-angle glaucoma. Lactation.

Special Precautions

Prostatic hypertrophy or paralytic ileus, elevated ALT and/or AST, hepatic impairment. History of drug-induced bone marrow depression hypereosinophilic conditions, myeloproliferative disease. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome. History of seizures or conditions associated w/ seizures. Monitor for signs or symptoms of tardive dyskinesia. Combination w/ other centrally acting drugs & alcohol. Drugs known to increase QTc interval. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy. Childn. Elderly.
