Indications and Dosage
Oral
Genitourinary infections
Adult: 200-400 mg tid.

Vaginal
Vaginal infections
Adult: As pessary and/or ointment: Use at night for 10 days.
Contraindications
Renal impairment; neuropathies; G6PD deficiency; hypersensitivity.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances; peripheral neuropathy; thrombocytopenic purpura; haemolytic anaemia in patients with G6PD deficiency; hypersensitivity reactions; contact dermatitis; hepatotoxicity; blood dyscrasias; pulmonary reactions.
Drug Interactions
Disulfiram-like reaction with alcohol.
Action
Description: Nifuratel is a broad spectrum antimicrobial similar to nitrofurantoin. It is also active against Trichomonas vaginalis (protozoan) and has some antifungal activity against Candida albicans.
