Action
Ambroxol Hydrochloride: Ambroxol Hydrochloride can alter the rheological properties of the mucus by acting directly on the secretion that have already been formed on the respiratory tract.
Ambroxol Hydrochloride breaks the disulphide bonds that bridge two muco-protein strands and thus helps to liquify the tenacious mucus secretions.
The surfactant activity of Ambroxol Hydrochloride also helps in making the mucus secretions less viscous.
Salbutamol: Salbutamol is a direct acting sympathomimetic agent with predominantly beta adrenergic activity and a selective action on beta 2 receptors. It is used as a bronchodilator.
Guaifenesin: Guaifenesin is reported to reduce the viscosity of tenacious sputum and increases the output of respiratory tract fluid by reducing the adhesiveness and surface tension, thus facilitating removal of mucus. Increased fluid flow is also claimed to soothe dry irritated membranes.
