Phototoxicity: Phototoxicity has been reported in patients receiving certain quinolones. The patient should be advised to avoid excessive sunlight or artificial ultraviolet light during treatment with Moxifloxacin.
Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility: Long term studies in animals to determine the carcinogenic potential of Moxifloxacin have not been performed. In studies conducted on animals, Moxifloxacin was found to be non mutagenic and have no effect on fertility in male and female.
Use in Pregnancy: Moxifloxacin should not be used in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.
Use in Lactation: Moxifloxacin may also be excreted in human milk. A decision should be made to either discontinue nursing or discontinue the administration of Moxifloxacin, taking into account the importance of Moxifloxacin therapy to the mother and the possible risk to the infant.
Use in Children: The safety and efficacy of Moxifloxacin in pediatric populations less than 18 years of age have not been established.
Use in Elderly: There is no difference in the safety of Moxifloxacin in patients aged 65 or older compared to younger adults.
