Citicoline sodium.
Description
Each 500 mg/2 mL ampoule also contains sodium hydroxide and water for injection as excipients.
Action
Pharmacology: Memocoline is used as an anti-cerebral apoplexy. It acts by stimulating synthetic phospholipid in nerve cells and by increasing the function of nerve pathways.
Indications/Uses
Cerebral apoplexy and its after-effects, head trauma, chronic blood vessel disease, decrease actions and recognition of high-age Alzheimer's disease, concomitant therapy with anticholinergic agents for the symptoms of Parkinson's disease; degenerated optic nerve disease and glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Dosage: Cerebral Apoplexy, Effects After Cerebral Apoplexy & Head Trauma: 250-1000 mg/day IV/IM, divided 2 times depending on the condition and symptoms of the disease.
Hemiplegia After Cerebral Apoplexy: 250 or 500 mg IV once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms are improved, administer IV once daily for 4 weeks. Dosage schedule depends on patient's age and symptoms.
Chronic Blood Vessel Disease and Degenerated Optic Nerve Disease: 250 mg IV once daily.
Administration: IV or IM injection, or drop infusion with anticholinergic agents daily for 3-4 weeks based on the patient's condition.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity with citicoline or to any components of Memocoline.
Special Precautions
IV injection should be administered as slow as possible.
IM administration should be cautioned to nervous tissue and nerve pathway.
Consult the physician if the patient is taking medicine or is allergic to any medicine, pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using Memocoline, breastfeeding, has other health problems eg, high blood pressure or heart/blood vessel disease.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: Since it has not been established whether citicoline may adversely affect therapy of pregnant women, this drug should not be used among pregnant women or women of childbearing potential and lactating mothers unless the benefit of treatment is considered to outweigh the risk.

Adverse Reactions
Memocoline has a high safety. Rarely, shock may occur. However, the symptoms eg, low blood pressure, tiredness, oppression, rash, loss of sleep, headache, vertigo, excitability and cramps can be developed.
Drug Interactions
In combination with levodopa, Memocoline can increase the effects of levodopa.
Storage
Store in hermetic containers at room temperature. Protect from sunlight.
Shelf-Life: 36 months.
