Methylcobalamin
Indications/Uses
Peripheral neuropathies eg diabetic neuropathy, alcoholic neuropathy, drug-induced neuropathy, trigeminal & occupational neuralgia, Bell's palsy & megaloblastic anemia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Mebaal-500 1 tab tds. Mebaal-1500 1 tab once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Use of methylcobalamin in deficiency states. Administration of doses >10 mcg daily may produce a haematological response in those w/ anaemia secondary to folate deficiency. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic reaction eg decrease in BP or dyspnea.
Drug Interactions
Antibiotics, cholestyramine, colchicine, colestipol, cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine, ranitidine, metformin, nitrous oxide, p-amino salicylic acid, KCl, proton pump inhibitors.
