Why do I need this medicine?
Levocetirizine helps to relieve symptoms of cold and allergy, such as runny nose, sneezing and itchy and watery eyes. It also helps relieve allergic skin conditions such as hives, and itchy rash.
How do I take this medicine?
Take Levocetirizine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by the doctor.

You may take Levocetirizine with or without food. Take it in the evening. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Levocetirizine is available as an oral tablet or oral solution.

If you are taking the oral tablet, swallow it whole with water.

If you are taking the oral solution, use the dosing syringe provided to measure out the dose. You may take the solution undiluted (as it is) or you may mix it in a glass of water before drinking. Take the oral solution immediately after dilution.

You may stop taking Levocetirizine once you feel better, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise.
What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
When should I not use this medicine?
Alert your doctor if you have severe kidney disease and undergoing dialysis as this medicine may not be suitable for you.
What should I take note of while taking this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
  • inability to empty the bladder and urinate (diseases like spinal cord lesion, prostatic hyperplasia)
  • enlarged prostate gland (diseases like prostatic hyperplasia)
  • fits or seizure
  • mild to moderate kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Levocetirizine to a child or elderly person. Children and elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.
What side effects could I experience?
Levocetirizine may cause drowsiness. It may also cause you to suddenly fall asleep during your daily activities such as eating and watching television. You may not feel drowsy before you fall asleep. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Other side effects may include any of the following: tiredness, cough, fever, diarrhoea, constipation, vomiting, dry mouth, sore throat, otitis media (ear infection).

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I take this with other medicines?
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
What special dietary instructions should I follow?
Avoid alcohol. Alcohol will worsen the dizziness and drowsiness caused by Levocetirizine.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
