Action
Description: Lecithin contains phospholipids, including phosphatidylcholine, which may have hepatoprotective activity and is important for normal cellular membrane composition and repair. Phosphatidylcholine is thought to be the precursor for acetylcholine synthesis which is important for many brain functions including memory.
Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Absorbed into the mucosal cells of the small intestine, mainly in the duodenum & upper jejunum. Distribution: Distributed to the various tissues of the body. Some are incorporated into cell membranes. Metabolism: Also metabolized to choline, fatty acids & glycerol. |
