Levocetirizine diHCl

Indications/Uses

Uncomplicated skin manifestations of chronic idiopathic urticaria. Symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis (seasonal & perennial).

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult, adolescent >12 yr 5 mg daily. Childn 6-12 yr 5 mg daily. Renal impairment: Mild (CrCl 50-79 mL/min) 5 mg once daily. Moderate (CrCl 30-49 mL/min) 5 mg once every 2 days. Severe (CrCl <30 mL/min) 5 mg once every 3 days.

Overdosage

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, hydroxyzine or any piperazine derivative. Caution w/ alcohol intake. Patient w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. End-stage renal disease-patients undergoing dialysis (CrCl <10 mL/min). Not recommended in childn <6 yr.

Special Precautions

Alcohol intake. Patient w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Pregnancy & lactation. May cause somnolence, fatigue & asthenia which may affect ability to drive & use machines.
