Serratiopeptidase
Indications/Uses
Anti-inflammatory therapy in inflammatory swelling & suppuration in addition to causal antibiotic or surgical therapy. Inflammation after surgery or injury; sinusitis; pericoronitis of wisdom teeth or alveolar abscess of other teeth when surgical therapy is not possible or advisable; breast swelling & discomfort in the early postpartum lactation; cystitis in addition to antibiotic therapy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1-2 tab tds depending on severity.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 2 hr after meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Gastric acid-caused upper GIT ulcers. Not suitable for infant & young childn.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if symptoms persist or worsen. Patient w/ GI lesion/ulcer, in concomitant therapy w/ anticoagulant/blood thinner or anti-inflammatory medication; w/ coagulation disorders, liver & kidney damage, or is having surgery. Do not use in patients w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Rarely, stomach & intestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting & diarrhoea. Hypersensitivity. Potentially, severe skin (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell syndrome) & resp disorders (Löffler syndrome, pneumonitis) & shock.
Drug Interactions
May intensify effects of anticoagulants. Decreased blood serum conc & carbamazepine effect.
