Indications and Dosage
Topical/Cutaneous
Corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses
Adult: As 0.1% cream or, 0.05 or 0.1% oint: Apply over affected areas as directed.
Contraindications
Application with occlusive dressings. Treatment of ulcerative conditions, rosacea. Indiscriminate use in pruritus.
Special Precautions
Risk of systemic absorption when applied to large areas, broken skin or under occlusive dressings. Pregnancy and lactation; elderly and child (long-term use).
Adverse Reactions
Hyperhidrosis, skin thinning and atrophy, dryness, irritation, epistaxis, loss of skin collagen, local hypopigmentation.
Potentially Fatal: Hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Reduced effects with barbiturates, carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone, rifampicin. Excessive loss with thiazides, furosemide. Increase incidence of GI bleeding with NSAIDs. Decrease serum concentrations of salicylates. Decrease effect of antimuscarinics in myasthenia gravis. Increased requirements of antidiabetics and antihypertensives.
