Per g Diclofenac diethylamine (equiv to diclofenac Na) 10 mg, menthol 50 mg, methyl salicylate 10 mg, linseed oil 30 mg
Indications/Uses
Local treatment of inflammatory & degenerative musculoskeletal diseases accompanied by pain & swelling eg, RA, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew's disease), acute podagric (related to gout), inflammation, psoriatic & post-traumatic arthritis, rheumatic soft tissue damage (tendonitis bursitis, myositis), degenerative joint diseases (large- & small-joint arthrosis), osteochondritis of spinal column, myalgia, neuralgia, lumbosacral radiculitis, traumatic pain, ligamentous laxity, sprain, strain, & muscular & joint pain induced by hard physical activity.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 2-4 g (4-8 cm strip) on skin & rub lightly bd-tds. Ave daily dose: 10 g equiv to 100 mg diclofenac.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Aspirin-induced bronchial asthma. Avoid use on broken skin & open wound. Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to local use of ASA, different salicylates & other NSAIDs. Patients w/ stomach or intestinal ulcer, liver & kidney disorders, haematological disorders, nasal polyposis relapse. Do not apply on damaged skin. Wash hands after use; avoid contact w/ eyes & mucous tunics. Do not apply on big areas of the body, or use for a long time in the last 3 mth of pregnancy & during lactation. Neonates.
Adverse Reactions
Skin irritation eg, skin rash, oedema, wheals, papules, scutes, reddening, burning, prickling, itch at the application site.
Drug Interactions
Increased effect of anticoagulants, GCS, lithium. Decreased action of furosemide, thiazide diuretics. Increased digoxin plasma conc; decreased tolerance & increased ulcerogenic action on GIT mucous coat of other NSAIDs. Local skin irritation (urticaria, reddening, desquamation) in concurrent use w/ N-acylethanolamine acid amidase (NAAA)-containing medicines
