Indications/Uses
Prophylaxis & chronic treatment of asthma. Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction & relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & adolescent ≥15 yr 10 mg once daily. Childn 6-14 yr  5 mg once daily. Seasonal allergic rhinitis Adult & childn ≥15 yr 10 mg once daily in the evening. Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction Single dose taken at least 2 hr before exercise.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Not for use in reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks. Not to be abruptly substituted for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Known aspirin or NSAIDs sensitivity. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Asthenia/fatigue, fever, abdominal pain, trauma, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, dental pain, dizziness, headache, congestion, nasal cough, flu, rash. Hypersensitivity reactions, hallucinations, drowsiness, irritability, restlessness, tremor, depression, insomnia, paraesthesia/hypoesthesia.
Drug Interactions
CYP450 enzyme inducers eg, phenobarb or rifampin.

R03DC03 - montelukast ; Belongs to the class of leukotriene receptor antagonists. Used in the systemic treatment of obstructive airway diseases.
