Difluprednate helps relieve inflammation and itch that may occur with certain skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.
Apply Difluprednate exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more often or over a larger area than instructed by your doctor.
If you are using the cream, follow these steps:
- Wash your hands.
- Clean and dry affected area before application.
- Rub Difluprednate gently on the skin until it disappears. Do not cover, wrap or bandage the area unless instructed by the doctor.
- Wash your hands after using.
- Replace the cap of the tube.
Avoid contact with eyes or mouth. Rinse immediately with water if this medicine gets into your eyes or mouth. Alert your doctor if you start to have any problems with your eyes.
Do not use with occlusive dressing unless instructed by the doctor.
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not use Difluprednate if you ever had an allergic reaction (rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to similar medicines such as clobetasol, hydrocortisone, triamcinolone, and fluocinonide.
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- bacterial, viral, fungal or parasitic skin infections
- acne
- rosacea (redness and visible blood vessels in the face)
- open wounds
as Difluprednate may not be suitable for you.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving this medicine to infant or to young children. If your child is using Difluprednate, he/she may need to have his/her height monitored regularly.
Do not apply on large areas of your skin or if it is broken or infected. Do not apply on skin that is discharging fluid or pus.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
Difluprednate may cause any of the following side effects: stretch marks, pimple-like blisters, excessive hair, dark purple spots or patches, fragile skin, uneven color of the skin, red and itchy rash, and threadlike red lines or patterns on the skin.
Other side effects include any of the following: weight gain, round face, easy bruising (cushingoid syndrome); slowed growth in children; blister with ooze, crust or flake off (dermatitis).
If you develop rashes, breathlessness, swollen mouth or eyes, stop using the medicine and inform your doctor quickly. These could be signs of an allergic reaction.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Let your doctor know if you are using any other creams, ointments or other medicines on the affected area.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. Do not allow to freeze and protect from heat.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
