Per 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) contains: Diphenhydramine HCl 12.5 mg, Ammonium Chloride 125 mg, Dextromethorphan HBr 10 mg.
Pharmacology: DANTUSIL is an effective antitussive.
DANTUSIL contains 3 main active components.
Diphenhydramine HCl is an antihistamine that has an antitussive effect and can normalize (decrease) the excessive mucus secretions.
Ammonium Chloride is proven to be effective to dilute sputum so that it can be easily excreted.
Dextromethorphan HBr is a component which influences cough relax as it suppresses directly the center of cough in the central nervous system. It has equal potency with Codeine but it is free from the side effects of Codeine.
DANTUSIL is effective for the treatment of cough concomitantly by allergic symptoms, such as: sneezing, lacrimation and congestion of the nose.
Adult: 3 - 4 times daily 1 - 2 teaspoons.
Children 6 - 12 years old: 3 - 4 times daily ½ - 1 teaspoon.
Children 2 - 6 years old: 3 - 4 times daily ½ teaspoon.
Not recommended for nursing mothers, infants or premature babies, and children under 2 years old, except under doctor's prescription. Not recommended for productive, chronic cough, pertussis and asthma bronchial. Be careful for patients with impaired liver or kidney or lung functions, epilepsy, prostate hypertrophy and glaucoma.
It is not allowed to drive a car or run machines when taking this drug.
Antihistamine may cause sedation to few patients.
It is rarely followed by nausea, vomiting, dizziness, urine retention, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances, skin allergic and disturbance of electrolyte balance.
