Action
Pharmacology: Vitamin B1, in the body, is converted to thiamine pyrophosphate which functions as a co-enzyme in the carboxylation of pyruvic acid and ketoglutaric acid.
Vitamin B6 functions as an important co-enzyme in the metabolism of various amino acids, carbohydrates and lipids.
Vitamin B12 is converted to co-enzyme B12, which takes part in the formation of protein and nucleoprotein.
Myelin sheath of nerve fiber is synthesized from lipoprotein. Formation of lipid component of the myelin sheath requires the conversion of methyl malonate to succinate, a reaction that needs co-enzyme B12.
