Indications/Uses
Inadequate dietary intake or loss of appetite especially for childn & elderly.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity; patient under MAO therapy, angle-closure glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy, bladder neck obstruction, pyloroduodenal obstruction. Elderly, debilitated patients. Newborn or premature infants. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Alcohol & other CNS depressants; CV disease; increased IOP; history of bronchial asthma; hyperthyroidism; HTN. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Sedation & sleepiness, dizziness, CNS disturbances; allergic reactions; acute labyrinthitis, blurred vision, diplopia, vertigo, tinnitus; hypotension, palpitation, tachycardia, arrhythmias, extrasystoles, anaphylactic shock; hematologic disorders; cholestasis, hepatic failure, hepatitis, hepatic function abnormality, dryness of mouth, epigastric distress, anorexia, GI disturbances , jaundice; urinary disturbances, early menses; resp disorders; fatigue, chills, headache, increased appetite/wt gain.
Drug Interactions
MAOIs, alcohol & other CNS depressants eg, hypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers & antianxiety agents.
