Should be taken with food. Film-coated tab: Swallow whole w/ water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid or penicillin. Patient w/ history of severe allergic reaction to any other antibiotic; liver problems or jaundice when taking antibiotic.
Patient w/ glandular fever; irregular urine output. May worsen existing conditions or cause serious side effects eg, allergic reactions, convulsions & inflammation of the large intestine. Affects results of blood tests (eg, RBC status tests or LFTs) or urine tests (for glucose). Side effects may make patient unfit to drive. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Oral susp: Patient w/ phenylketonuria; glucose intolerance; controlled K diet. Contains benzyl alcohol which may cause allergic reactions; sulphur dioxide which may rarely cause severe hypersensitivity reactions & bronchospasm.
Allergic reactions (eg, skin rash, vasculitis, fever, joint pain, swollen glands in neck, armpit or groin, swelling of face or throat, collapse); inflammation of large intestine. Thrush; nausea; vomiting; diarrhoea.
Drug Interactions
Probable allergic skin reaction w/ allopurinol. Probenecid; warfarin. Affects efficacy of MTX. May affect efficacy of mycophenolate mofetil.
J01CR02 - amoxicillin and beta-lactamase inhibitor ; Belongs to the class of penicillin combinations, including beta-lactamase inhibitors. Used in the systemic treatment of infections.
