Antioxidants.
Description
Each soft cap contains vitamin A 50 mg (β-carotene 15 mg), vitamin E (DL-α-tocopherol) 400 IU, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) 500 mg, selenium 50 mcg (selenium in dried yeast 92.6 mg).
It also contain the following excipients: Soybean oil, palm oil, white beeswax, lecithin, gelatin, glycerin, D-sorbitol, methylparaben, propylparaben, ethyl vanillin, titanium dioxide, blue no. 1, yellow no. 4, red no. 40, red ferric oxide, purified water.
Action
Belafcap contains natural antioxidants eg, vitamins A, C and E, and selenium. These substances help protect the body from the harmful effect free radicals. As a result, Belafcap delays various adult diseases (eg, circulatory and cardiac disease, hypertension, arthritis, vision disorder).
Indications/Uses
Antioxidant. Prevention of various diseases, strength recovery and in combination in therapy for vision diseases, nervous disorders (eg, amnesia, Alzheimer's and Parkinsons disease) cancer, cardiovascular diseases.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults: 1 soft cap once daily after meals.
Overdosage
Overdosage of β-carotene caused its accumulation in the body as a reversed source of vitamin A and an antioxidant. Adverse effect due to β-carotene overdosage is carotenemia which is a harmless condition with a slightly yellow discoloration in the skin and will disappear upon discontinuation of β-carotene.
Overdosage of selenium has been associated with loss of hair, nail changes, diarrhoea, dermatitis, metallic taste, garlic odour of breath, irritability and fatigue.
Overdosage of vitamin E (>1200 IU daily) may cause diarrhoea, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, fatigue, dizziness.
Overdosage of vitamin C may cause renal calculi, nausea, gastritis and diarrhoea. Diuresis with forced fluids may be useful following a massive ingestion.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of Belafcap.
Large doses (>1 g daily) of vitamin C in patient with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency. History of renal calculi, hyperoxaluria, oxalate dysbolism and thalassemia. Patients with vitamin A redundancy.
Special Precautions
Carefully administer Belafcap to patients undergoing therapy with other drugs containing same components.
General: Keep the recommended dosage scheme. The recommended dose of selenium is 75-150 mcg for adults. If dosage is >200 mcg, toxicity may occur. Do not administer selenium >200 mcg/day.
Tolerance may be induced with prolonged use of large doses, resulting in symptoms of deficiency when intake is reduced to normal.
Hyperoxaluria may occur either after using a high dose of vitamin C.
Beta-carotene, used either simply or with other antioxidants, can significantly increase all-cause mortality when used alone or with other antioxidants.
Use in pregnancy & lactation: It should be cautioned when using concomitantly with other vitamin A preparations in order to not exceed vitamin A 8000 IU (equivalent to β-carotene 14.41 mg).
Pregnant women taking large doses of vitamin C (3 g/day) could have newborn babies with scurvy.

Adverse Reactions
Some patients may reveal following symptoms eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea. If these symptoms occur, discontinue medication. Inform the physician in case of any adverse reactions related to Belafcap.
Drug Interactions
Vitamin E increases the absorption, use and storage of vitamin A.
The absorption and function of vitamin K may be inhibited when using a high dose of vitamin E.
Concomitant administration with iron preparations may reduce the effects of vitamin E.
Cholestyramine and liquid paraffin reduce the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins.
Storage
Store on temperatures below 30°C. Protect from light.
