Amlodipine besilate
Indications/Uses
HTN: As monotherapy or in combination w/ other antihypertensives. CAD: As monotherapy or in combination w/ other antianginal agents, symptomatic treatment of CAD; confirmed or suspected vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal's or variant).
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN Initially 5 mg once daily. Max: 10 mg. CAD Initially 5 mg once daily. Dosage range: 5-10 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to amlodipine or other dihydropyridines.
Special Precautions
Increased pulmonary edema in patients w/ NYHA III & IV heart failure of non-ischemic etiology. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, oedema, fatigue, somnolence, nausea, flushing, palpitations & dizziness. Vomiting & abdominal pain.
