Contents
Ferrous fumarate 350 mg, folic acid 1 mg, pyridoxine HCl 1.5 mg, cyanocobalamin 5 mcg, ascorbic acid 75 mg, Zn sulphate monohydrate 55 mg
Indications/Uses
Fe & nutritional deficiency anaemia, anaemia associated w/ worm infestation. Prophylaxis against Fe deficiency & megaloblastic anaemia during 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Vit B12 deficiency, paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria, haemosiderosis, haemochromatosis, active peptic ulcer, repeated blood transfusion, regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis. Not to be used in non-Fe deficiency anaemia.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ peptic ulcer; post-gastrectomy patients; folate-dependent tumours; microcytic anaemia. Undesirable to be used during 1st trimester of pregnancy. Not to be given to childn.
Adverse Reactions
GI discomfort, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea; darkening of stools.
Drug Interactions
Reduced absorption of penicillamine, tetracycline. Impaired bioavailability of fluoroquinolones, levodopa, carbidopa, thyroxine, bisphosphonates. Reduced absorption by antacids. Interfered metabolism by co-trimoxazole, chloramphenicol, sulphasalazine, aminopterin, MTX, pyrimethamine or sulphonamides. Reduced serum levels of anticonvulsants. Delayed plasma clearance by oral chloramphenicol. Inhibition of absorption w/ cholestyramine, trientine, tea, eggs or milk. Increased BP w/ methyldopa. Reduced bioavailability w/ coffee. Altered absorption w/ neomycin.
