Per g Calcipotriol 50 mcg, betamethasone 0.5 mg
Indications/Uses
Topical treatment of scalp & non-scalp plaque psoriasis vulgaris in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply once daily to affected area. Recommended duration of treatment: 4 wk for scalp areas & 8 wk for non-scalp areas. Max: Not to exceed 15 g daily. Max treated area: Not to exceed 30% BSA.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Ca metabolism disorders, viral, fungal or bacterial skin infections, parasitic infections, skin TB manifestations, perioral dermatitis, skin atrophy, striae atrophicae, fragility of skin veins, ichthyosis, acne vulgaris & rosacea, ulcers & wounds; erythrodermic, exfoliative & pustular psoriasis.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if infection worsens or hypercalcaemia occurs. Risk of generalised pustular psoriasis or rebound effects upon discontinuation; guttate psoriasis. Avoid application under occlusive dressings, on large areas of damaged skin, on mucous membranes or in skin folds. Avoid contact w/ face, mouth & eyes. Limit or avoid excessive exposure to either natural or artificial sunlight. Avoid concurrent treatment w/ other steroids. Long-term use. Severe renal insufficiency or hepatic disorders. Pregnancy & lactation.
