Per mL Latanoprost 0.05 mg, timolol maleate 5 mg
Indications/Uses
Reduction of IOP in patients w/ open-angle glaucoma & ocular HTN who are insufficiently responsive to topical β-blockers.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly Instill 1 drop in affected eye(s) once daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Reactive airway disease including bronchial asthma or history of bronchial asthma, severe COPD; sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, SA block, 2nd- or 3rd-degree AV block, overt cardiac failure or cardiogenic shock.
Special Precautions
History of atopy or severe anaphylactic reaction to variety of allergens. Avoid use in active herpes simplex keratitis & history of herpetic keratitis associated w/ prostaglandin analogues. Systemic effects. Patients w/ CV diseases, 1st-degree heart block; severe peripheral circulatory disturbance/disorders; mild/moderate COPD; spontaneous hypoglycemia or labile diabetes; corneal disease; choroidal detachment; acute closed-angle glaucoma. Aphakic patients, pseudophakic patients w/ torn posterior lens cap or known risk factors for macular oedema. May mask signs of acute hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism. May gradually change eye colour. Punctate keratopathy, toxic ulcerative keratopathy & eye irritation due to benzalkonium Cl. Remove contact lens prior to application & reinsert after 15 min. Allow 5-min interval if >1 topical ophth drug is used. Not recommended in concomitant use w/ ≥2 prostaglandins, prostaglandin analogues or derivatives. Concomitant use w/ surgical anaesth. Transient blurring of vision may affect ability to drive & use machines. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Increased iris pigmentation. Eye irritation & pain.
Drug Interactions
Paradoxical IOP elevations w/ concomitant use of ≥2 prostaglandin analogues or derivatives. Potentiated additive effects on IOP w/ oral Ca-channel blockers, β-adrenergic blockers, antiarrhythmics, digitalis glycosides, parasympathomimetics, guanethidine. Potentiated systemic β-blockade w/ CYP2D6 inhibitors. Mydriasis w/ adrenaline (epinephrine). Potentiated hypertensive reaction to sudden w/drawal of clonidine. Increased hypoglycaemic effect of antidiabetics.
