Tranexamic acid
Indications/Uses
Haemorrhage or threatened haemorrhage associated w/ excessive fibrinolysis. Management of haemophiliacs undergoing dental extractions, prophylaxis of hereditary angioedema.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Cap 4-6 cap daily in 2-3 divided doses. Inj 0.5-1 g tds by slow IV inj.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
History or risk of thrombosis, acquired disturbances of colour vision.
Special Precautions
Haematuria caused by renal parenchymal disease, thrombotic states. Renal impairment. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Anorexia, hypnosia, pruritus, erythema, rash, GI disturbances, disturbances in colour vision (discontinue).
Drug Interactions
OCs, oestrogens, factor IX complex.
