Indications/Uses
Temporary replacement & supplement for synovial fluid in all stages of joint pathology. Pain associated w/ knee OA. Synvisc Pain associated w/ hip, ankle & shoulder OA.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Synvisc IA inj Knee OA 3 inj 1 wk apart. Max: 6 inj w/in 6 mth w/ min of 4-wk interval. Hip, ankle, shoulder OA Initially 1 inj, 2nd inj may be administered after 1-3 mth. Synvisc-One 1 IA inj, may be repeated 6 mth after 1st inj.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to hyaluronan. Venous or lymphatic limb stasis, infected or severely inflamed joints, skin diseases or infections at inj site.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to avian protein. Not to be inj extra-articularly, intravascularly or into synovial tissues & cap. Not to be used in large IA effusion. Avoid strenuous activity following inj. Not to be used concomitantly w/ quaternary ammon salt-containing disinfectants for skin prep. Pregnancy. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Transient pain, swelling &/or effusion in injected joint. Acute inflammation; hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylactic & anaphylactoid reactions, anaphylactic shock & angioedema.
