Amoxycillin
Indications/Uses
ENT & GUT, skin & soft tissue infections, acute, uncomplicated anogenital & urethral gonorrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥20 kg 250-500 mg tds, max: 4.5 g daily, 8-20 kg 6.7-13.3 mg/kg tds, 6-8 kg 50-100 mg tds, <6 kg 25-50 mg tds.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: May be taken w/ meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Cross-sensitivity; prolonged therapy (periodic assessment of organ system). Renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions, pseudomembranous colitis, GI disturbances.
Drug Interactions
Chloramphenicol, erythromycin, sulfonamide, tetracyclines, probenecid.
