Loratadine
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of nasal & non-nasal seasonal allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria & other dermatological disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 1 tab or 2 tsp syr once daily, 6-12 yr, >30 kg 1 tab or 2 tsp syr once daily, ≤30 kg ½ tab or 1 tsp syr once daily, 2-6 yr, >30 kg 2 tsp syr once daily, ≤30 kg 1 tsp syr once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Prostatic hypertrophy, urinary retention, glaucoma & epilepsy. Discontinue use approx 48 hr prior to skin testing procedures. Hepatic or renal impairment (GFR <30 mL/min). Pregnancy & lactation. Childn <2 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Gastritis, alopecia, anaphylaxis, abnormal hepatic function, tachycardia, palpitation, fatigue, headache, somnolence, dry mouth, nervousness, wheezing, abdominal pain, hyperkinesia, malaise, nausea, rash.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ketoconazole, erythromycin or cimetidine. Drugs inhibiting hepatic metabolism.
