Contents
Per 5 mL Paracetamol 250 mg, pseudoephedrine HCl 15 mg, chlorpheniramine maleate 1 mg
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic relief of common cold & flu eg, fever & pain, headache, body aches, nasal congestion & runny nose. Symptomatic relief of allergies eg, sneezing, itching & watery eyes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 15 mL tds-qds. Max: 60 mL daily, childn 6-12 yr 10 mL tds-qds. Max: 40 mL daily, 2-5 yr 5 mL tds-qds. Max: 20 mL daily. Not to exceed 4 doses in 24 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe HTN & CHD. Not recommended in childn <2 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if severe skin reactions occur. Patients w/ HTN, heart & thyroid disease, diabetes, glaucoma, asthma, prostatic hyperplasia or bladder dysfunction; stenotic peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal & urinary bladder obstruction. Avoid alcohol consumption. Not to be used concomitantly w/ other paracetamol-containing medicines. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Hepatic or renal impairment. Pregnancy. Not recommended during lactation. Not to be used in childn <2 yr. Childn 2-6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions eg, skin rashes, angioedema, SJS, TEN. Tachycardia, anxiety, restlessness, insomnia; urinary retention. Moderate drowsiness, dizziness, ataxia, headache, nausea, blurred vision, dry mouth.
Drug Interactions
Increased chloramphenicol conc. Increased effects of oral anticoagulants eg, warfarin. Increased paracetamol absorption by drugs increasing gastric emptying eg, metoclopramide. Decreased paracetamol absorption by drugs decreasing gastric emptying eg, propantheline or narcotic analgesics, pethidine. Increased paracetamol toxicity by enzyme-inducing agents eg, alcohol or phenytoin. Increased pseudoephedrine absorption by Al hydroxide mixt eg, antacids. Decreased pseudoephedrine absorption by kaolin. Reduced hypotensive effects of certain neurone blockers eg, bretylium. Potentiated chlorpheniramine sedative effects w/ alcohol, barbiturates, anxiolytics, TCAs, hypnotics or other CNS depressants. Increased chlorpheniramine antimuscarinic effects by other antimuscarinic drugs.
