Human anti-D Ig
Indications/Uses
Prevention of Rh(D) immunisation in Rh(D) -ve women (ante- & postpartum prophylaxis). Rh(D) -ve patients after incompatible transfusion of Rh(D) +ve blood or other RBC-containing products eg, platelet concentrate.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Prevention of Rh(D) immunisation in Rh(D) -ve women Antepartum prophylaxis 300 mcg single IV/IM inj. Planned antepartum prophylaxis 300 mcg single dose at 28-30 wk of gestation. Antenatal prophylaxis following complications of pregnancy 300 mcg IV/IM inj administered as soon as possible w/in 72 hr after the at-risk event, repeat every 6-12 wk until delivery time. Postpartum prophylaxis 300 mcg IV/IM administered as soon as possible w/in 72 hr of delivery. Incompatible transfusions of RBCs in Rh(D) -ve patient 10 mcg/mL transfused Rh(D) +ve blood or per 1 mL of erythrocyte conc. Max dose: 3,000 mcg.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to human Ig. Severe thrombocytopenia or other haemostasis disorders.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if allergic or anaphylactic type reaction occurs. Not intended for use in Rh(D) +ve individuals or individuals already immunised to Rh(D) antigen. Risk of haemolytic reaction. Patients w/ BMI ≥30. Possibility of transmitting infective agents. Paed patients. Not to be given to newborn infant.
Adverse Reactions
Local pain & tenderness at inj site (IM route). Uncommonly, headache; skin reaction, erythema, pruritus; pyrexia, malaise, chills.
Drug Interactions
Impaired efficacy of live attenuated virus vaccines. Misleading +ve results in serological testing.
