Contents
Aspirin 100 mg, glycine 45 mg
Indications/Uses
Transient ischaemic attacks, secondary prevention of MI. Prophylaxis against stroke, vascular occlusion & DVT.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take w/ food to minimise GI irritation.
Contraindications
History of sensitivity reactions to aspirin or other NSAIDs. Haemophilia or other haemorrhagic disorders; gout.
Special Precautions
Asthma or allergic disorders; dyspepsia, gastric mucosal lesion; dehydration; uncontrolled HTN. Discontinue several days before scheduled surgical procedures. Interference w/ thyroid function tests. Renal or hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not to be given in childn <16 yr. Avoid prolonged use in elderly due to risk of GI bleeding.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances eg, nausea, indigestion, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma salicylate conc w/ dipyridamole, metoclopramide, metoprolol. Increased GI bleeding & ulceration w/ corticosteroids. Increased aspirin excretion w/ antacids. Increased activity of coumarin anticoagulants, sulfonylurea hypoglycaemics, zafirlukast, MTX, phenytoin, valproate. Diminished effects of uricosurics eg, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone. Increased risk of adverse effects w/ other NSAIDs. Abolished cardioprotective effects w/ ibuprofen or other NSAIDs. Decreased plasma conc of some other NSAIDs ie, fenbufen, indomethacin, piroxicam.
